INNOVATION AND STARTUP POLICY

1. ABOUT THE POLICY

            Though innovation per se was thought to be blossoming out of technical institutions only. However, ideas have no boundaries, and they can bloom anywhere. So, with an aim to create an environment and a support system, the present Innovation and Startup Policy is being envisioned which enumerates broad guidelines to allow ideas to turn into reality at an early stage and also to create a support system at A.S. College, Khanna so that the ideas do not die an early death.  The Innovation and Startup Policy for students and the faculty has been framed to enable the institute to promote and actively engage the faculty and students in innovation and entrepreneurship related activities. The policy specifies the mechanism for the initiation of start-ups of the faculty and students under the aegis of the College.

 

2. VISION

            To provide entrepreneurship knowledge, encourage students and the faculty for innovations & start-ups to promote research for nation building.

 

3. MISSION

            To build, streamline and strengthen the innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem in campus by creating an entrepreneurial mind-set among the faculty and students.

 

4. OBJECTIVES

  1. To provide a platform for the faculty and students in pursuing their own ideas in socio-economic developmental process.
  2. To build entrepreneurship culture in the institution.
  3. To promote knowledge based and innovation driven enterprises.
  4. To promote employment opportunities amongst students.
  5. To offer a platform for dynamic start-ups.
  6. To ensure adequate availability and flow of information to potential entrepreneurs.
  7. To conduct various entrepreneurship and innovation related activities.

 

5. STRATEGIESY AND ACTION PLANS

  1. Each proposal has been initially reviewed by a Review Committee composed of stakeholders from academia and industry regarding the relevance of the proposed innovation and business-worthiness.
  2. The Review Committee examines the proposals to determine the role of the faculty/student in a start up as promoter, as mentor, as consultant or on the Board of Directors.
  3. To run the selected proposals Memorandum of Understanding is signed with the appropriate organisation.
  4. As startups are incubated at college campus, the use of labs and other infrastructural facilities are governed by the concerned department.
  5. The College deputes one faculty with each startup owned by the students to offer services such as guide, coach, mentor etc.
  6. The Institution endeavors to create the Corpus out of which the seed funding is given as loan/equity to the startups.          
  7. The strategy also involves raising funds from diverse sources including Government agencies (state and central) like DST, DBT, MHRD, AICTE, TDB, TIFAC, DSIR, CSIR, BIRAC, NSTEDB, NRDC, Startup India, Invest India, MSDE, MSME. 
  8. To support technology incubators, the College approaches private and corporate sectors to generate funds under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
  9. The College also supports Internships for students in the company.
