Mathemetics

Mathematics is the study of quantity, structure, space and change that has evolved from elemental practices of counting, measuring and describing the shapes of objects. It deals with logical reasoning and quantitative calculation. The postgraduate programme in Mathematics(MSc. in Mathematics) is a two year degree programme that covers the wide range of Mathematics subjects like, Number Theory, Abstract Algebra, Linear Algebra, Linear and Non Linear Programming, Complex Analysis, Differential Equation, Vector Calculus and Mechanics, Real Analysis, Functional Analysis and Topology.

This programme has three important features. First, the students are prepared for their final Panjab University MSc Mathematics examinations. Second, they are trained to appear in competitive examinations like, UGC-NET in Mathematics, Ph.D. Entrance tests in Mathematics etc. Third, they have been given hands-on training to use MS-Word, MS-Excel, and other soft tools which are helpful to them for the organization, presentation and analysis of statistical data related with the research at various levels
