IT Policy

1. ABOUT THE POLICY

            Information technology is the backbone of any organization. The regulatory bodies, government and universities are encouraging the institutions to use IT and IT Enabled Services for various teaching and administrative operations. Besides, the positive impacts of the technology, there are some gray areas also, where security and integrity of data is of utmost importance. So, the technology should be used judicially. Keeping this in mind, the IT policy of the college establishes do’s and dont’s for the effective and efficient use of IT infrastructure.

            To build a globally competitive and IT enabled campus providing a secure digital experience to all the stakeholders.

 

3. MISSION

            To make the students, faculty and non-teaching staff self sufficient to handle their tasks digitally in a secure and comfortable environment.

 

4. OBJECTIVES

  1. To provide all required IT resources to the various departments.
  2. To ensure optimized and judicial use of IT Resources.
  3. To update and maintain IT resources in the campus.

 

5. STRATEGIES AND ACTION PLANS

  1. Keeping the pace with global environment, college has provided the required IT infrastructure to students, faculty and non-teaching departments. Desktops, Laptops, Network Devices (Both Wired and Wireless) and access to Internet and web applications have been provided.
  2. College also caters UGC Network Resource Centre in the library, where students and staff members can access the Internet.
  3. Keeping in the view the prevalent cyber crimes in the present scenario, college provides controlled access to the users.
  4. Special training sessions are conducted to facilitate the students, faculty and non-teaching staff. They are guided about the optimal and judicial use of Hardware, Software and Internet facilities provided by the college.
  5. Hardware and Software are updated as per the need.
  6. Hardware and Software Installation, updation and maintenance is done regularly by the Network administrator of the college. The users are guided to keep their softwares updated and antivirus softwares installed in all systems should be active all the times and are advised to keep the regular backup of their important data.

 

6. MONITORING AUTHORITY

            The overall hardware Infrastructure of the college is maintained by the Network Administrator. The purchase/Installation/Maintenance of Hardware and Software is done by the Network Administrator of the college in consultation with the Head of Computer Department. Further, the Usage of Hardware, Software and Internet facility provided by the college is monitored by the Network Administrator of the college for security and performance reasons. The college website committee maintains the Website of the college as per the information provided by faculty and administrative departments. The various committees constituted for smooth functioning are: (i) Website and College Automation Committee, and (ii) Hardware Maintenance Committee
