1. ABOUT THE POLICY
College has well defined policy for utilization and maintenance of Physical, Academic and Sports facilities. Duties are assigned to the different committees constituted by the principal for efficient utilization and maintenance of the facilities. The need of policymaking arises from constant, uninterrupted and smooth functioning of these services and facilities. The policy document assures the proper utilization and periodic maintenance with a standard required specification of Physical, Academic and Sports facilities of the college.

To create an environment for all the stakeholders to access and use Physical, Academic and Sports facilities of the college.
3. MISSION
To develop effective mechanism for optimum utilization of the facilities in order to achieve the goal of effective college functioning.
4. OBJECTIVES
- To establish standard procedures for maintenance and utilization of Physical, Academic and Sports facilities.
- To achieve constant, uninterrupted and smooth functioning of Physical, Academic and Sports facilities.
- To avoid misuse of available resources and services.
- To achieve timely upgradation, renovation, repair and replacement of the resources and services.
- To ensure safety of all the stake holders.
5. STRATEGIES AND ACTION PLANS
The college has the following Physical, Academic and Sports facilities:
- Physical Facilities
- Principal and Administrative Office:
The administrative block of the college is well furnished and air conditioned. Administrative block consists of Principal Office and three rooms for office staff. The principal office has a computer with Wi-Fi facility and printer. Wall mounted LCD screen which shows the footage of CCTV cameras installed at various places in the college has been put up in the principal office. With the help of service windows, office staff deals with the students. Administrative office has a well-maintained store for keeping all the documents and files.
The college has 16 department offices where the students can easily contact their subject teachers. The department offices have necessary furniture, desktop with printer, notice board and book bank. The faculty members of the departments are responsible for proper utilization and maintenance of the department office and furniture. In case of requirement and repair of furniture, electronics components, etc., Head of the department informs the superintendent office. Cleanliness of the department offices is done on regular basis by the sweepers of the college.
There is an Examination Branch headed by the Controller of Examinations with supporting staff members. Conducting of all examinations is the prime responsibilities of the Examination Branch. Further, Examination Branch coordinates with the University regarding all examination matters. The Coordinator of Examinations supports the Principal in regards to all examination matters. Any information either received or required to be sent to the University are being dealt with in the Examination Branch. Examination branch also organises annual prize distribution function and convocation.
- Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)
College has IQAC which plays a key role in improving and maintaining the quality of education. The Cell has been functioning actively of our Academic and Administrative activities. The prime task of the IQAC is to develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement in the overall performance of institutions.
In order to promote Punjabi Culture among the students, college has a well-maintained Waris Shah Museum. Items related to Punjabi traditions and culture are kept into the museum. Students may visit the museum during the college hours.
The college has well-furnished and fully air-conditioned staff room. The staff secretary chosen unanimously or elected by the staff members is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the same. It has two washrooms separate for male and female staff. One attendant is deputed in the staff room for the assistance of teachers. Cleanliness inside the staff room is done daily by the sweepers. The college staffroom has all the necessities like Water cooler with RO drinking water, Refrigerator, Microwave Oven, Crockery, Comfortable furniture, Lockers for the Staff, Display board for notices & circulars, Dustbins, daily Newspapers, etc.
The college has a spacious girls common room specially for the girl students. It is a place where the girls can spend their time during free lectures. One female staff is deputed who takes care of all the necessities of the girl students. Cleanliness inside the girls common room is done regularly by the sweepers. Girls Common Room has all the facilities like sufficient furniture, Sanitary Napkin Vending machine with Incinerator, indoor games like carrom board and table tennis, 32-inch High-definition LED, Water Cooler, Clean and Hygienic washrooms, Magazines and Newspapers, Notice Board to display Notices, Dustbins, etc.
In addition to departmental notice boards, the main notice boards are installed near administrative block, college main hall and main library of the college. Important information and notices regarding academic and co-curricular activities are regularly displayed on these notice boards.
College has well-spaced and hygienic canteen with a large variety of food items. The canteen has a spacious cooking area and separate eating places for boys, girls and staff. The canteen is given on contract basis to a contractor by inviting tenders. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to keep the canteen clean and hygienic. A Canteen and Hygiene Committee is appointed by the principal which regularly inspects, surveys the hygienic conditions of the canteen and the quality of food served there. Food items are sold on affordable prices approved by canteen committee.
The college has a fully air-conditioned big Auditorium, with the capacity of over 600 people, equipped with audio system, Wi-Fi enabled LCD projector and screen. Auditorium consists of a big stage, one balcony, two green rooms and a washroom. The auditorium is used for Youth Festivals, cultural events, convocation, Prize distribution function, farewell parties, etc.
The college has fully furnished air-conditioned seminar hall with the capacity of over 300 people, equipped with audio system, Wi-Fi enabled LCD projector and screen. Seminar hall is mainly used for extension lectures, placement drive, debate competitions, quiz competition, declamation contests, etc.
The College has a well-maintained dispensary to provide immediate medical assistance to students and staff members in case of emergency. The college has appointed one pharmacist as well.
- National Cadet Corps (NCC) office and Shooing Range
College has a NCC office and shooting range. The NCC Unit of the college, working under the motto of “Unity and Discipline” is constantly devoted in grooming the youth of the college into disciplined and patriotic citizens. NCC Army Wing enroll cadets every year in the beginning of the session.
- Botanical Garden and Lawns
College has a well-maintained botanical garden and lawns. These are maintained by the gardeners appointed by the College. There is a committee appointed by the principal for the beautification of the campus which guides the gardeners in landscaping and plantation of plants and flowers.
The College has well spacious and separate parking areas for boys, girls and staff. Two class-IV staff members (Male for Boys parking area and Female for Girls parking area) are deputed for vigilance over the parking area. They also issue the tokens to the students to park their vehicles.
The college has a building in the sports ground wherein the Punjab National Bank (PNB) has a branch office on rent. This provides vital banking facilities to the Institutions, staff members as well as students. The branch is also open to public service.
- Electrical Maintenance and Generator
The College has two power generators to provide power in case of main electricity failure. An electrician has been appointed by the college for uninterrupted power supply and maintenance of electronic equipments. In case of any fault in the electricity, the matter is reported to the superintendent by the head of the department.
- Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water System
College has its own mineral water (RO) plant in the college campus. Entire college is supplied with the mineral water from the plant. It provides healthy and clean drinking water to staff and students.
CCTV Cameras are deployed across the campus for round the clock surveillance. In every department, floor and library, CCTVs are installed to monitor the activities taking place. Surveillance cameras keep track of who is coming in and out of the college.
There are few quarters for the class IV employees of the College where some families are living free of cost since 1960.
College has good number of washrooms separately for girls, boys and staff. Washrooms are kept neat and clean by the sweepers.
- Academic Facilities
There are 30 classrooms in the college for the smooth functioning of daily lectures. All the classrooms have large black/green boards and sufficient number of benches. Most of the rooms have front Platforms to ensure good eye contact between teacher and students. Allocation of rooms according to the strength of the students is done by the Time table committee constituted by the principal. There is sufficient number of smart classrooms in the college with LCD projectors with roll down screens over the boards. The Heads of the Departments are laden with complete responsibility for proper utilization and maintenance of the classrooms/smart classrooms and furniture.
The college has well equipped 02 Physics, 03 Chemistry, 02 Biology and 04 Computer Science laboratories. The practical classes are taken in these laboratories. The students are divided into small sections for the conduct of practical classes in an effective and smooth way. The requirement of new equipments and chemicals for different laboratories is submitted by the head of the respective department to the principal of the college for approval. The equipments and chemicals for the laboratories are purchased by inviting quotations as per college norms and orders are placed with the agencies offering the equipments at lowest rate. The repair of the equipments is performed by the experts from the respective agencies on call basis. A stock register is also maintained by the lab staff in the department. Annual stock verification is done by the lab staff.
College library has a good collection of books and periodicals on different subjects. A library card is issued to the students and faculty members in order to get the books issued. The college library is fully air conditioned and well equipped with LAN facility for the computers. Issue and return of the books is operated through a user friendly software SOUL (Software for University Libraries - INFLIBNET Centre). For the smooth functioning, the library has been divided into different sections: Circulation Section, Reference Section, Periodical Section and Reading Room. Circulation Section contains general text books related with various subjects. All the books have been arranged from 001 to 999 according to Dewey Decimal classification system. Reference Section contains important reference books on all subjects. Besides this, dictionaries, encyclopaedias, travel guides, competitive books, maps, gazetteers, collected works and Year Books are also available in this section. Periodical Section is loaded with more than 50 magazines/periodicals and 12 daily newspapers in Hindi, English and Punjabi. The Reading room has a capacity to accommodate 150 students at a time. The reprographic facilities are available in the library for the students and faculty members at very nominal charges. Annual budget for purchase of books is passed by the Management and then books are purchased by asking for requirements from different Departments. College principal has also constituted a library advisory committee for the overall supervision of the functioning of the library. College library remains open from 8.45 AM to 04.00 PM during all working days for the students and faculty members.

- UGC Network Resource Centre
University Grants Commission has entrusted the College to manage a Network Resource Centre (NRC) for providing updated information regarding the activities, programmes and schemes of UGC to the students and faculty members. The UGC-NRC is located in the Main Library of the College. UGC-NRC provides free internet service to students from 09.30 am to 04.00 pm on all working days. Besides this, the centre has arranged the subject-wise list of websites to enable the students to prepare their study notes. Eight Computer Terminals have been placed for users for accessing Internet.
The college has one language lab to provide a wide range experience from the conventional system of teaching and learning English language, communication skills. It increases confidence among students for interactions and presentations in English.
- Sports Facilities
The college has well maintained sports ground with ultra-modern facilities like 400m Track for Athletics, Football Ground, Basketball Court, Cricket Ground, Volleyball Court, Lawn Tennis court, Wooden Badminton court, Boxing ring, etc. College ground has covered stage, stands and washrooms in stadium. Water system is installed for watering the lawns. Every year the College organizes Veteran walk, Inter Class competitions, cross country competition for boys and athletic meet. Coaching facilities are given to the players in different games for their proper training. The College has teams for Cricket, Basket Ball, Badminton, Kabaddi, Table Tennis and Athletics. Fee concessions are given to the students who won medals for the college in University and Inter University events.
There is a gym/fitness centre in the college campus for the students and staff. New upgraded gym apparatus and machines are installed with functional training space. In addition to this facility, college also has an open gym with all latest equipments.
6. Monitoring Authority
College principal has constituted different committees for the smooth functioning of various tasks. Each committee comprises of one senior faculty member as convener and some other faculty members for execution of the task.
