Policy for NCC

  1. ABOUT THE POLICY        

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a Voluntary Organisation, which is administered through the Ministry of Defence. NCC is the largest uniformed youth organization. Its motto is 'Unity and Discipline'. In living up to its motto, the NCC strives to be and is one of the greatest cohesive forces of the nation, bringing together the youth hailing from different parts of the country and moulding them into united, secular and disciplined citizens of the nation. The uniqueness of NCC lies in its focused training activity round the year. College offers 'B' and 'C' certificates for Senior Division/Senior wing (SD/SW) cadets. In the beginning of the academic session students from various streams in the college are enrolled for NCC on merit for three years. The College has the NCC Office, Short Shooting range and eco friendly NCC Park for cadets to carry out various NCC training activities.

            To create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth, to provide leadership in all walks of life and always be available for the service of the nation. To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces.

 

  1. MISSION

            It is an essential for the development of the youth into confident leaders with requisite character qualities and personal attributes, so that they can take their place as responsible citizens of the country, assumes great importance. To achieve this objective the youth needs to be exposed, beside the academics, to such activities which help them in developing their personality and character and in-turn making them a good leader. The NCC provides exposure to the cadets in a wide range of activities, with a distinct emphasis on Social Services, Discipline and Adventure Training. The NCC is open to all regular students of colleges on a voluntary basis. The students have no liability for active military service.

• To develop character, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service amongst the youth of the country.
• To create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth.
• To provide leadership in all walks of life and be always available for the service of the nation.
• To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the armed, air and navy forces.

  1. Components of NCC
  1. Associate NCC Officer (ANO)

            ANO is an important link in the NCC organization between the NCC Battalion and the cadets. As a matter of fact, ANO is the feeder node of NCC since he is the one who is in direct contact with the cadets all throughout the year.

 

  1. NCC Cadets:

Every year, in the month of July/August students from various streams in the college are enrolled for NCC on merit for three years. Total Number of Seats in NCC are 104 (Boys & Girls).

 

  1. Enrolment Criteria  
  1. Eligibility Conditions
    • Citizen of India.
    • Bearing good moral character.
    • Enrolled in an educational institution.
    • Meets the prescribed medical standards.
    • Age Senior Division/Wing (Boys/Girls) – 15 to 23 years.
    • Enrolment Period Senior Division/Wing (Boys/Girls) - 3 years.
  2. Physical examination: This is first step of selection procedure. It includes run, chin-up, sit-up etc.
  3. Written test and Interview.
  4. Application for Enrolment.
  5. A student desirous of being enrolled in the Senior Division shall apply to the  Commanding Officer of 14 Pb Bn NCC Nabha, through ANO.
  6. Medical Examination.

 

  1. Documentation
  1. 10th and 12th class mark sheet.
  2. Blood group certificate.
  3. Aadhaar Card photocopy.
  4. Cadet’s Bank account details photocopy.
  5. College Roll Number Slip
  6. 03 Passport size photo civil uniform.

 

  1. Training Period

            Total training period for SD and SW is 3 years with an extension of 1 year permissible on exceptional condition. Every cadet has to undergo service training for a period of at least 4 hours per week during the training year. However, no training is carried out during periods when the college through which a cadet is enrolled is closed for a vacation. Every cadet has to undergo service training for a minimum period of 75% of total hours annually. Every cadet, who has completed one full year of training and is in his (second year), attends an annual training camp of 10 days to fulfil the eligibility for certificate exam.

 

  1. Certification

            There are 2 Certificates in NCC. Below describes about it from lower value to higher value:-

Certificate ‘B’ :  Every cadet, who has completed Two full years of training and is in his second year attends an annual training camp of 10 days and completed second year with 75% attendance of total NCC training hours annually in the college, fulfils the eligibility for certificate exam.

Certificate ‘C’ : It is the most important certificate for NCC cadets. Every cadet, who had NCC B certificate and is in his third year, attends an annual training camp of 10 days and completed third year with 75% attendance of total NCC training hours annually in the college, fulfils the eligibility for  ‘C’ certificate exam.

            These certificates are awarded as grading of (1) ‘A’ grade, (2) ‘B’ grade, (3) ‘C’ grade.
 

  1. Benefits to NCC Cadets

            NCC cadets get reservation in several competitive exams. Bonus of 10-15 marks are awarded for different NCC certificates during Indian Army/ Paramilitary soldier recruitment. Preference is given to candidates with C certificate in various state government jobs. Special entry scheme for C certificate holder in SSB interview without written test. NCC  cadets have a lot of  academic incentives for admission in PG courses in universities and colleges. NCC B & C certificate holders is given 2% and 3% of the maximum marks of the examination as bonus marks. Above all it serves like a X factor in various fields.

 

  1.  NCC Activities outside the college
                Throughout the year, various camps are organized at Directorate & Battalion level to train cadets in various field. These activities are as follows:

  • Celebration of NCC Day each year
  • Active Participation in Blood Donation Camps, Tree Plantation and Cleanliness drives etc 
  • Guard of Honor and Piloting by cadets for authorized VIPs.

 

 

6. MONITORING AUTHORITY 

DG NCC, New Delhi under the Ministry of Defence is the Monitoring Authority and College NCC Sub Unit executes its directives/instructions from time to time. ANO of the College, 14 PB BN NCC Nabha, Group Head Quarter Patiala and Punjab Directorate are involved in this regard, in the organizational hierarchy.
