RESEARCH POLICY

1. ABOUT THE POLICY

Research and innovation are important aspects to enhance quality education by the higher education institutes. Societal challenges of our country can only be addressed by having a strong and vibrant higher education ecosystem with an emphasis on research, innovation, and technology development. Academic institutions are expected to perform threefold activities which includes teaching, research and extension. Research happens to be one of the pioneer aspects of academic activities which helps the institution to achieve excellence in the field of education. It also includes the quality of learning and development of knowledge. Research and developmental activities help to create and disseminate new avenues in knowledge and promote innovation. These activities motivate better learning and teaching among faculty and students of the institute.

            The research policy of the college aims to develop and promote scientific temper and research aptitude of all learners; to realize the vision and mission of the college and to identify research areas of academic, practical and socially relevant significance thus contributing to national development. It also aims at ensuring that the research activities of the college conform to all applicable rules and regulations of the affiliating University and UGC as well as to the established standards and norms relating to safe and ethical conduct of research.

 

2. VISION

To put in place a robust mechanism for developing and strengthening the research ecosystem within HEIs, aligned with the provisions of NEP-2020.

 

3. MISSION

  • To create a conducive environment for enhanced research productivity.
  • To encourage collaboration across industry, government, community-based organizations, and agencies at the local, national, and international level.
  • To facilitate greater access to research through mobilization of resources and funding.

 

4. OBJECTIVES

  1. To create and promote a culture of research.
  2. To identify research areas and specify research topics of academic, practical and socially relevant significance.
  3. To publish research material in appropriate media and to make available such published information to the end users.
  4. To serve as a facilitator providing professional guidance, technical support and recommendation for financial assistance.
  5. To provide a modality for proper coordination of all research activities.
  6. To organize seminars/conferences/workshops on research topics and training programmes in research methodology.
  7. To identify and establish linkages including MOUs for long term relationships with national and international research organisations for widening the scope of research opportunities.
  8. To ensure quality, integrity and ethics in research.

 

 

 

 

5. STRATEGIES AND ACTION PLANS

  1. The college facilitates the faculty in undertaking research by providing research facilities in term of laboratory, equipment, research journals, ICT tools etc.
  2. The college motivates the faculty to undertake the research by collaborating with other research organisations/agencies, industry etc.
  3. The college facilitates faculty to avail facilities granted by national and international organisations such as UGC, ICSSR, ICHR, ICPR, DST, DBT, UNESCO, UNICEF etc.
  4. The college also provides seed money to promote research culture among faculty and students.
  5. The college promotes the publication of research in the form of books, journal papers, working papers etc. with national and international publishers.
  6. The college facilitates consultancy services to industries/government/NGOs/society etc.
  7. The college maintains a database of research work undertaken by the faculty and students as well as creates metrics such as Citation Index, Impact Factor, h-index, SNIP, SJR etc.
  8. The college encourages faculty to act as approved Research Supervisors.

 

6. MONITORING AUTHORITY

The college established Research Wing for the execution of this policy. The Research Wing consists of 8 members - 3 members from Science stream (each from Biology, Physics, Chemistry), 1 from Computer Science and Application department, 3 from Arts stream and 1 from department of Commerce. This Wing, with the cooperation of Principal of the college, reviews and approves research proposals to be initiated by the faculty and students

therefore always free from repetition
